I have a 2006 that was uprated to 550, Cat I think charged around $500 to do it. Pulls great but my fuel miliage sucks, usually somewhere around 5.5

WOW I don't think that the cat dealers around here will do anything for less than a grand.

The bad thing about letting Cat or a dealer uprate your engine is that the EPA has made them change the ECM profile to include more NOx codes, to decrease emissions. As you will see some performance increase, fuel mileage suffers horribly.

does having your engine turned up put more wear and tear on your internals?

    Is your truck under warranty?

getting your ECM done will void it... For a C15 check out a BULLY DOG. May be alot more but I'd say you will be happier with the results with HP and MPG, along with not voiding your warranties. Bully Dogs can't be found by electronics at the shop.

Is it a 6NZ serial number engine.........if so then most of the later engines just need to be flashed for more power. The older E models had hard part differences in pistons, camshaft, injectors, and turbo

So what do you have.........a 6NZ, MBN, BXS or what?

Well found out the mileage went down a little and wasnt driving it hard. Was getting 6mpg before ecm and now 5.7mpg. Power is very noticable though. Gained 5 pounds of boost or more. It will run hot if you lug it to much but just gotta keep an eye on the egt gauge. But overall im impresseed with the power but the fuel mileage went down. That was running the first tank of fuel through it with the new ecm. So well see if it goes up a little over time.
