Winter fuel this year hit MPG hard with the entire Maverick fleet this year, especially the "big grills" (Cascadias). They are not performing as well as expected when Maverick purchased them. I hear their awsome as well as the drivers driving habits are as well but once the outside temp got below 40 degree's, MPG plummeted. It was a coldwinter and not many drivers are willing to sleep in full thermals, inside a sleeping bag like i do to keep the MPG up.

As a company driver, i try to make the company as much as i can moneywise. Helps me put a coupla extra duckets in the bank as well. lol.
I'm sure there's other Mavericks out there that would like to see the 800 mile hung out pay come back, as do i, but they have to have the money to do it, so i do what i can to help.

Baby's up so gotta go change diapers and other daddy duties. I'll try to pop in here later today

It happened, you called it in, and you'll get safety points for it. 2 things: Dont beat yourself up over it, and learn from your mistake's.

I crunched a tarp box once shortly after i started and when i called it in, Safety asked me if the box was still on the truck. I said, of course but learned that when in doubt, get out. G>O>A>L. Get Out And Look. Had i got out on that right turn, i would've seen the 2.5 foot tall concrete chunk holding up the temporary truck route sign. I got 2 points for it and hauled them for a year. A month before they were to fall off me, I met S.S. who was assigned to the sprint van at the time in Gary. He said i could take a class to have the points removed but i just waited til the time passed.

That place is like a black hole. You get sucked in and time stops until you come out of the other side! lol

I noticed that about the shift points on my own. My trainer only drives it in Auto. I started trying doing it in Manual last week and liked the way it reacted to shifting at the lower Rpm's especially from 9th to 10th.
I usually put it back in auto when I am getting off a ramp so that I can just focus on getting slowed down and making the turns ect.

I also like the speed of about 57, 58. As you said everyone is passing you by so I do not have to keep slowing down.
Someone was crabbing at me on the CB the other day, so I just turned it off.

Something about your statement got me to chuckling. I wonder how many other drivers would have missed this golden opportunity to send their blood pressure skyrocketing. Just turned it off, did ya? :biggrin_25514:

bravo.. those on the radio complaining ur not going the speed limit need to look up the difference between limit and minimum and stop their whining as long as ur btwn the two. they also need to learn if the object in their windsheild is getting larger, they are gaining on it and need to make arrangements to pass safely.

I guess for some, its easier to complain on the cb than to aim high in their steering and make arrangements to get around the slower vehicle.

Also, they dont seem to understand that if your speed is between the limit and the minimum, you have the right of way if you are in front of them.
Convoys are cool looking as long as safe following distances are between the trucks, a sight i've rarely seen other than when 4 or 5 of us were on the same load and ran together.

Heck I had to back. They had cones set up in different staging areas. I do not remember blindsiding tho. I also tested on a 10 speed manual, so things may be different now.
