Absolutely. It’s easy to look back and say “woulda coulda shoulda” but a guy can’t beat himself up over that. At least I try not to. Your last employer was what worked at the time, and you were able to take some great trips, and be there for your mom. That’s what’s important. You found a great place now and you can revel in the delight of what’s to come. It’s easier said than done too leaving a job after 10+ years. For what it’s worth I think you went about it intelligently, and did your homework and made sure it was a move worth taking. There’s few things worse in a career than starting a new job and thinking “well this sucks… I should’ve just stayed where I was at”.

I probably pass you Johnboy every now and then I see your FedEx ground trucks around Murfreesboro all the time. I run out of the Walmart DC just down the road in Shelbyville delivering perishables to stores within a 200+/- miles radius of it. I'm always running up 231 to get on 24 and sometimes cut thru Joe B Jackson to avoid a few redlights. Or even to pickup backhauls at the big Interstate Cold Storage whse next to your yard. I'm like you in that I wish I had gotten my current job many years ago. Back then though they were contracting the work out so it wasn't even possible until a year or so ago. Same deal for me, it's the easiest trucking job ever, good pay with lots of nice perks. No complaints at all I'll retire from it.

I know me, and the last sentence of your post is something I always have in the back of my mind. I always said that I know what I have at a particular job, I don’t know what I’ll get into at a new job. But, it was time for a change and I finally pulled the trigger.

Do you ever get to enjoy the coolness of downtown Nashville or places like that on your downtime?

I can if I want too. The first place I’ll
visit is the Grand Ole Opry.

Cannot recommend the Country Music Hall of Fame enough. And even if you’re not a hockey fan, if you can catch a Predators game in Smashville that is an electric atmosphere! That venue is the second best I’ve been to only behind the Madhouse on Madison in Chicago. Them country folk REALLY like their hockey!

If you go to the opry, visit the hotel, it’s really amazing, and relaxing on the inside.

    JohnBoy and motocross25 Thank this.

He put it in the correct thread. I posted immediately after the quote he quoted and I linked to the post SuperSnackBar made that had a direct link to the new article about it and I even replied about there being a thread about it. @Makin A Livin Trucking simply wasn't paying attention.

    Lonesome and JohnBoy Thank this.
