So that is why it only had 3 cylinders and oil/gas add holes were swapped....

Even stranger. The old brass; for half inch galvanized pipe, "Stop and Waste valve" required proper directional installation.
Else you were wasting a steady squirt out on the wrong side.
Two Stilllsons, unscrew, reverse, daub on "white lead", tighten it up, next....
