I felt we needed a visual for your quote.

That would be hilarious watching people or kids, bat balloons and beach balls at a robot truck.

Crazy because I'm all outside with my nieces and nephews getting dirty, riding bikes, playing basketball, and everything.

I'm assuming you're being sarcastic when you say "appealing" for I-95 from D.C. to Boston

There wouldn't be a driver shortage if companies would treat and pay drivers accordingly. No reason why otr drivers should be making less than 85k a year. Unless the company pays for all extraneous expenses (meals, showers, parking, motels when needed) Also companies need to lose the inward facing cameras and the constant beeping of lane departure and proximity warnings. No one needs to have to listen to that sh#t. I don't know about anyone else but I got into the business in 80 to be left alone and do the job. Now these companies want to hold your hand every step of the way

The kids will be just waiting in the wings to take pot shots of some kind at these robots(not to mention Halloween..lol) their insurance rates will sky rocket from these events alone, and than add some driver misery into it and I can see them insurance companies licking their chops

Regarding autonomous trucks. Sure they might save on drivers salary and benefits, but what they save with autonomous trucks will be quickly spent on lawsuit settlements.

Until 5G is literally everywhere and these vehicles have proven track records of safety nothing will change. The only alternative is to have autonomous trucks with a human driver backup. Good luck on I-70 west of Denver in the winter. I don't see how a truck like that can operate safely in adverse conditions. It's difficult enough with a human driver.

They’ll use autonomous trucks for Amazon DC to DC, USPS DC to DC etc. There won’t be autonomous trucks delivering gasoline anytime soon. Local deliveries with liftgate jobs aren’t going anywhere. The human element will be around for a long time. If you’re employed as a driver today, you will more than likely be able to retire as a driver if you choose too.
