They’re installing a very short stretch of road with some type of sensors in Downtown Detroit. It’s for driverless technologies. Costs Millions of $$$. No where close to practical. Not far from where Henry Ford first drove his Horseless Carriage on a city street. Someone yelled “ get a horse”, and many laughed. Not far from the first red light. Not far from the first freeway. I just ran an expedited load 8 miles from a supplier to GM. The plants have had driverless vehicles moving parts around for 30 years already. I couldn’t help but think how my shuttle run could easily be done using the same technology. Who knows? One dedicated lane each way on the Interstate for line haul is all they need. Break points every so often where needed. Not much different than running triples on the Turnpike. Just the beginning.

Imagine wanting everyone else’s income regulated to make your own life easier all while calling yourself a business owner. And having the YouTube “expert” like the comment is almost worse.

The difference in Henry Ford inventing the automobile is no one forced anyone to buy it, the market dictated that change when people saw the convenience. Now you have the government incentivising the electric car market, and state governments making it illegal to sell combustion engine cars by a certain time line, they are dictating the change. And they are doing it under the false pretense of environmentalism, looking at everything that goes into producing any new vehicle let alone electric ones they are no better for the environment and can be actually worse when you look at them overall than anything we have right now. The same goes for driverless vehicles, (and you can call me a conspiracy theorist if you want for this) what they are going to do with this is take away freedom to go wherever you want. If you look at the model for the fifteen minute city they absolutely do not want people out roaming around and traveling wherever they please. Most of these people proposing these 15 minute cities are also saying you will need something similar to a passport to travel outside of 15 minutes away from your home. They are not trying to save the environment by doing this, they are trying to control a population of people and take away their freedoms They could careless about your safety, or the environment, they want control and this is what driverless vehicles, cashless society, and all this other bs gives them.

They already control the population and can take our limited freedom away whenever they decide to do it.

Read up on the "manure wars" of the 1890s - cities taxed the every loving heck out of horses, wagons, stables, etc. Then read up on the land grants that oil companies got, how the government used eminent domain for the oil companies, and all the other subsidies and considerations the oil companies got between 1890 and 1920.

This thread has been quiet for a while. How's everyone doing?
I am getting by on $2 per mile working 3-4 days per week. Midwest and Northeast are dead as usual at this time of the year, but South already shows some signs of higher volume.
