Our economy is still almost in the worst shape it has been in for decades. And yet, yesterday people were lined up and camped out overnight not for bread, but to fork over $500-$800 to Apple for the Ipad. I just had to wonder how many of those people are already in debt, or will be going into debt after their purchase.

The biggest problem with the Ipad, of course, is no Flash Player. So just about every website Ipad owners go to, they will get that annoying message "This site requires Flash, go to Adobe downloads, etc." That alone would drive me crazy. And it doesn't have a USB drive, I think you have to buy some special cord that probably costs a fortune. It's a mess.

I'm sure the second or third generation will be better and once they get the Flash issue figured out or when all websites also use the Apple approved HTML5.

the iPhone is a few years old and still running around $300. iPods are still hot, Apple seems to know what they are doing.

From what I was reading this AM on a website the ipad owners are saying the flash thing was blown way out of porportion. Also from what I have read there is a connector that comes with the ipad that goes from the dock connector to USB so that's a non issue as well.

I think Apple has probably hit another home run with this thing.
As soon as the hoopla dies down I'll try to go and put my hands on one of these things so I have some first hand info.

A lot of flash content is not compatible with how the iPhone OS handles user input. There is no constant input method used(mouse/keyboard) by the iPhone OS except a capacitative screen. I forgot where I read about it but it mentioned what I stated.

Give it a couple of generations. You can't even get online through a cell network with this one. You have to use wi-fi. But I'm sure there will be a lot of problems with the 5gb cap when it does go online with AT&T or any of the other cell providers.
