I have heard the Volvos have electrical issues, so does Paccar (KW, Pete)
My mentors truck the CB wasn't worth a crap. Evidently the antenna wire is flat VS coax. So it is really crappy with range, coming and going. I have an older Cobra my inlaws gave me. The mike doesn't work, and the power cord might have a short in it. I have an old 23 channel Cobra in my shop. On the Volvo the company supplies the antenna.

Would not put the mac 11 in incorretly. They instituted this macro shortly after all those company drivers got caught selling fuel to others at a reduced rate on the fuel island. Instead what I do is put one or two eights less than what I have when doing my empty call or mac 10. I was asked once why I do that and just said because I do not operate the tractor under 1/4 tank due to the possibility of picking up sludge and debris in the tank. Have never been questioned since. -
i just got off a feightshaker with a detriot 60 series engine not a lot of power but only dropped to 6th gear one time climbing a hill with 40k in the trailer.

A lot depends on the gearing of the truck. Companies buy units that they domicile in certain areas( Flat lands ) and they work great , then truck is moved or sold and end up in an area with mountains truck is a real dog.

It seems Swift has you fuel differently than I'm used to. I only drove for one company, Schneider. They gave us a list of accepted fuel stops and we we're allowed to fuel at any of them or any Schneider terminal whenever we wanted. Our loads gave us recommended fuel stops but they were strictly recommendations. How does Swift handle fueling? From what I've read in this thread it sounds like they do the same but REQUIRE you to fuel as instructed which would totally bite.
-
Swift requires you to fuel at locations set on the qualcomm for the trip, they also at times tell you to only get say 50 gallons at this location then fill up at another location further down the trip. Kinda sucks. When I drove for JR Schugel they had the same as SNI, we just had an approved fuel book where we could fill up and it was up to the driver where, when, and how much fuel ya put on.
-
You always put in how much fuel you have. Then based on that they should get you a "fuel route. We were in Waynesboro VA with 1/4 of a tank. The suggested fuel route was to fuel in Meridian MS!!! I was with a L/O so he fueled where he wanted to. If I was running a company truck I would have to request a different place to fuel.

The fuel routing is wack. It has told me to fill up in Limon, CO when I have a load from Aurora to Pueblo
-
Yeah there routing is crap. Had a load going from rogers MN, to marion MI. They wanted me to run an extra 300 miles free to fill up at the oshkosh terminal, when I could have ran up on US8 through wi I think it was, tried to tell them I wasnt gonna run those 300 for free to pay 5cents less a gallon for them. Didnt make much sense to me, but they said thats what the computer said so I just filled up at the inver grove term and ran there and skipped the oshkosh fill up.

Sounds like the fuel policy is a pretty big problem for Swift company drivers. Anyone have any more comments on the subject?
