It is very possible. One driver from Chicago area once told me that he was paid on 1099 and had two of his pay checks witheld by them as a security bond. I don't understand why IRS can't clean that 1099 mess. It should be a straightforward rule, if someone drives your truck you must pay him on W-2.

I’ve already made up my mind. If I ever have a rollover accident, or a major accident that’s my fault, that’s my sign to get out. Won’t matter if the company will keep me around or not. I’ll hang it up. But that’s just me. First trucking company I worked at Was pretty lenient on some of their drivers. Some of them had two or three major accidents, and they were still driving at the company. One guy in particular that I gave him a ride back to the yard. He was flying through a Walmart distribution center doing about 30 miles an hour hour, and slammed into a light pole that was out in the middle of a parking area with nothing else around it. When I picked him up, I just looked at him and said “how?“. I mean, how do you even hit something like that without seeing it. On the ride back he was sure they were going to fire him, he was on the phone to his wife saying he was going to need to look for a new job and a new career. The truck was totaled. They didn’t fire him. So you just never know. But if that were me, I would’ve called it a day and that would’ve been the end of my career just by my own personal choice.

were those drivers given a citation? I’m starting to notice, not taking anything for granted but, unless you hurt someone, someone’s property, or get caught in the act of doing, cops/dot don’t give citations to drivers involved in an accident. That of course depends if you fail a sobriety test, making ####### excuses etc. I simply almost fell asleep behind the wheel. I haven’t driven in over three months at the time so I wasn’t used to feeling those warning signs. If I tell the cop on site: “I was driving, and the next thing I know, I was holding something in my hand off the road and it flipped”, would the cop give me a break since I just been through a traumatic experience after making a mistake or would I have to bite the bullet anyway?

i was just trying to be simple in a hypothetical, what would of happened. Yes I almost dozed off and the rumble strip saved me. I hadn’t driven in three months post surgery. I’m way better now since I’ve had time to drive and feel myself better behind the wheel. With that said I almost forgot to ask this question, let’s say something did happen, would I be given a citation or would the cop cut me a break given nobody was hurt, I’m not on drugs and I didn’t damage anyone’s property.

I almost fell asleep and the rumble strip saved me. I hadn’t driven in 3 months after surgery. I wasn’t used to how my body felt as well at the time. I’m way better now. Thankfully nothing happened. I do have another question. If nobody else was involved except the driver, no private property damage, no drugs, just simply a driver dozed off, would the driver still be given a ticket?

I honestly don't know if they were given any citations, but I'd hazard a guess the one did. That said, depending on the circumstances I'd guess it would be up to the cop's discretion.

Doesn’t matter if you hurt someone or not. You dozed off. You should know better and stop before you get to that point. I’ve read some of your other posts about there not being rumble strips on some roads and what not. Get that victim mentality out of your head and get with the program.

You could very likely get a ticket "Failed to reduce speed to avoid accident" or something similar, even if nobody else or none of their property were impacted by your rollover.
