"I USED to be a big fan of Copper...NO more. Horrible service and a lot of "bait and switch". Good luck getting them on the phone too. You place an order and never heard from them. As far as Radioactiveradios...Back in the day (like just a few years ago) they were good..But now, it's just a hack job. I bought a Galaxy 99V from him and it was an utter disappointment. To get my new radio running, I had to spend over $200 at a local tech...The "wack pack" is just a "cut and hack job"."
I agree.
Total insanity. Nothing in that radio could go and cost two hundred. Unless your saying (not Mike, the other guy) it needed a new face and Bezel, new meter, channel switch, band board, echo/robot board, both finals, pass regulator, etc., etc., etc..
In short no freaking way I think you need to keep tech hunting! -
I appreciate the info Jesse.
Turbo-If you were directing that one at me, im rather handy, easily aggitated. If its nothing but pictures showing what to do...then shoot, im game. If i have to read it, piss on it lol. Before anybody says anything YES i can read, and I am college educated, I am just more of a hands on learner. I actually have a old Cobra 29 I have kicked around trying to learn how to work on radios, but seeing as it was my first radio, I have a sentimental attachment to it, and hate to mess it up. -
Yes I directed that at you. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the Galaxy you are looking at uses the same board as the Connex 3300.
Here's how the Connex is converted to work on 11 meters....

I have bought several radios from GI Joes. The first 2 was great radios and great service. The next to last one took several weeks to get. I’m still waiting on my last one, that I paid for several weeks ago. This will be the last time I wait for a radio. I suggest buying from Walcott for a new radio.Another Canadian driver and stacks Thank this.

I live in same town as G I Joe's. A couple years back he was telling me about how cb repair biz had changed over the years. Just like how tracking has changed for us. It has for him. Things have slowed down for him. Mail order replaced showrooms etc
And new radios much like new trucks are junkAnother Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I’ve Bought 3 Radios from Walcott over the past 10 years always in store never had any troubleAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

I'm thinking that G.I. Joes has went out of business. Website has been down for weeks and phone is not working.

I think the owner has passed away.

From what I found it was their Tech Ron who passed. Terrible. He was always a pleasure to talk with.
