To be fair -- in case it has not been pointed out to you earlier -- the overall CDL job market (especially for rookies) is simply TERRIBLE right now.

Thus -- the problems you are now facing are not necessarily just about you -- IT'S ALSO YOUR TIMING. o_O

Employers/carriers have the edge right now (in most cases) -- & they know it. :(

IF.....the KLLM deal falls through...you might give Schneider a try (I don't see where you've tried them already).

I (also) had employment history problems when I first tried/started CDL work -- & Schneider (aka, "the Big Orange") gave me a chance, when no one else would.

They have a terminal (a nice one) over in Gary, Indiana.

Also: I lately see postings from them here & there looking for drivers to do eastern US dry van duty -- just what you need!

Schneider will very likely have the freight to keep you moving.

Anyway, just some food for thought....

    Good luck!

Follow-up: I gather your commitment with Schneider (for their CDL school) would only be for 9 months.

    But double-check that.....anyway.

Several Indiana companies offer riverboat cruises during warm-weather months, serving as a way to enjoy a bit of nostalgia along the water.

I'm not going to lie, I think that is something I'll have to look into and garner more information on for sure!

Dang, that’s a very high tuition cost but probably inline with what the training carriers will charge.
Look around and see if anyone offers a course through a college that’s affordable. Something in the 5-5.5k range.

I would personally get the CDL from a private school over a training company.
In your case of lack of work history I’d find a friend with a business that can say you worked for them..

Good luck and keep the thread updated.

At the time -- with relevant grants & scholarships -- I bagged a CDL from a nearby tech school for about $1,000 out-of-pocket.

If you do grants/scholarships in a similar way....you may get a deal on a CDL as well...

It's much better that way....than being indebted to a carrier for x months (plus).
