I am not going to defend myself but I will say that I am not a complainer. There were times when I got frustrated but I knew the nature of the beast. Long before I became a driver my hubby has been driving for 10 years and some were crappy. My situation was posted here under some other forum. And although I didn't experience the actual operation of a DSR I have on many occasions sat at the desk next to my DSR and saw what she had to go through. We also became friends (now looking back that was my biggest mistake) and she would confide in me some of the back handed things the upper management did to drivers. I hope that my experience was a fluke and will never happen again. I can only advise drivers to cover themselves.

I am interested in what you have to say Gypsy. I'm also equally interested in what others have done to cope or deal with a similar issue. I find many people here complain and rarely if ever does someone offer a solution or counterpoint. In other words, those people only focus on the negative.
Anyhow I've always loved speaking with people. I always learn something new. But perhaps someone can help me here in that I find the posts in these forums mostly negative while talking with drivers in person is vastly positive! Now some worry about the economy, others have financial problems, but I've found drivers to be a positive bunch!
Why is it so different here? Are people here mostly just letting of steam?
Sorry for the long posts lol. -
Sorry for 2 posts but Hey Gypsy I see that you may have went to Schneider on Mar 28! How was the medical? Have all my fingers crossed and it hurts!
-
Well with Schneider not so well. They were great but unfortunately my heart rate was over the limit. So I have to wait 6 months to try again. I went to my doctor and he changed my B.P. med to include something that helps keep my heart rate down plus I'm working out at the gym.
With Roehl, with the way the workforce is I would have stayed if allowed and dealt with the issues. In trucking there will be times where it gets frustrating. Load assignments get messed up, sitting for hours sometimes days for a load, waiting at shippers and receivers to get loaded and unloaded. Plus some (not all) S & R's often times treat drivers disrespectfully. Dealing with it means developing a thick skin, try not to take things personally (very hard at times), and if you are told to do something and it doesn't sound right, contact your DSR and go over it and get approval. Then document that. It's best to do it over the qual-comm so you have a record of it. Don't get into a rush that's when you overlook something or forget to do something. DON'T become friends with your DSR. At the end of the day there are very few people who will put their own job on the line to stand up for another.RonS666 Thanks this. -
Very sorry about the 6 month wait Gypsy. At times I can be a very slow learner. I've been burned more times than I should have lol. BUT! Like you've said, I never accept the spoken word as truth, not when it comes to my needs.
Always document. If someone isn't willing to write the word "yes" they don't mean yes. If you see a pattern of abuse beginning, document and again, if no-one will confirm what they say in writing, it's NOT EVER going to happen.
If your gut feeling says "No", but others say yes, always trust your gut. Always have a plan 'B'. This is hard. But it's needed.
I plan on having a good experience with Roehl but I plan ahead. I will get a beginner's pay but it's the experience that I need most. Like college, you don't go for the money, you go for the education. Study all options that will be available 6 months, 1 year, 2 years down the road. In time make an option a goal. Work only to make that goal happen.
I'm 53. I'm not smarter than anyone else here, but I'm smart enough to learn what I can anywhere I can.
I guess what I'm saying is yes at times, even often times, we are disappointed by the actions and words of others. But if you manage what you do as it pertains to where you are going in life, the BS no longer matters.
Save money the best you can. Listen only to those who pull you up or help. Study those who are doing what you want to do, not so much in words but in actions. AND NEVER EVER think someone is better than you. We all deserve respect and a good life.
And I really have to post 1 line messages. Sorry folks.rocknsand Thanks this. -
ronS hope your new career in the trucking industry goes well, sometimes it will seem like its not worth it but its a journey if your willing to take it.

Long story short after nails through the foot, dislocated shoulder and broken bones lol I now own 3 lake homes outright (No mortgage).
Sooooo now at 53 I'm ready for a new masochistic challenge. I love life. Love doing new things so I figure I have a good year or 2 in me.
Trick is don't over think it and concentrate on the next nail to be hammered lol. -
I know Roehl's pet policy is 'no', but I have to wonder if anyone got to bend that rule. Or is it truly a hard set NO?
-
It is a 100% no and if you get caught with a pet in your truck you will be terminated. -
Everybody should be with their family for the holidays. I worked healthcare before going into trucking, and I always worked holidays. Christmas, thanksgiving, you name it. Work is supposed to support your family. Not tear it apart.
