ETCH is correct. Don't try to bend any of Roehl's policies. It will give you a one way ticket home and a termination on your DAC report.

My brother in law works for roehl.. He always tells me how good they treat him. Have fun making good miles and money..happy rollin &god bless!!
-
Done with Orientation and waiting for my evo 1 trainer. And you're right Gypsy but I don't consider that a bad thing necessarily. What I perceive is that Roehl is getting the drivers ready for the new regulations coming down the pipe. The company wants us healthy, alert and doing the job by the book. I think the 2010 health guidelines will be tough but to that I'm only guessing.
Roehl has been in the reefer business for only a year and a half and that end of the business is growing so I've been told by drivers to expect miles.
Now if I only could get on the road lol. I'm dying here waiting lol. -
I know this is bad form posting twice, but I want to say thanks. I've started a blog here on the Truckers' Trucking Forum, and will keep that as a place to blog my day. I do wish to continue to post here when I learn something new as I go.

Roehl has been in refeers since January of 2008. My husband and I were one of the first teams to go over to refeer. In this division be prepared to do a lot of sitting at shippers and receivers because it is about 99% live load and unload. This eats up the 14 hour clock for solos and takes a chunk out of a team's ability to run miles. I was wondering if the customer base in refeer was growing. In Missouri we have a lot of cold storage caves and I don't see many Roehl trucks running here. Good luck. As far as policies go, I didn't mean to imply that making a driver adhere to them is wrong I was just informing everyone that Roehl has zero tolerance for violators.

Hi Gypsy and no I didn't think you implied anything negative at all. And I'm smacking my head now that you told me about the number of live loads lol. I'll chock this one up to stupid newb tricks.
As far as the reefer loads growing I'm only going on what I was told. But on this you would know well if you were there from the get-go.
Again Gypsy please let us know how things go okay? Take care. -
Hey good luck I hope refeers is doing well. One good thing is when refeer freight is slow you can pull dry van. It's been almost a year since we left them so it's very possible that they acquired more customers. It's just with refeer you have to deal a lot with lumpers especially at warehouses. I will definitely let you know how things go. As soon as I'm certain my BP and heart rate is stable I am off back to trucking. Meanwhile I sit here and bother you guys. LOL
-
Never a bother Gypsy and yep BP can be a pain. I'm lucky in that I got my prescription cut in half. Wasn't easy and thank heavens for a wife who cares and is more stubborn than me lol.
Now of the live loads, how many of those are done by the driver? -
From my experience.....we never loaded ourselves. Although sometimes we were required to be on the dock to count the load. Unloading you can do it yourself or lumper. Since Roehl pays for lumpers I say let them do it. Only time we had to unload was when we did the pizza thing for Jacks pizza. I don't know if Roehl still does that. I forget what they called it. But what it is is you unload the pallets of pizza and put them in the freezer. You don't have to take the boxes off the pallets. No one is there. So when you get there you have to get the key out of a box and open up and unload and lock up and then you are done. At first a driver was payed $100.00 but it was changed to a much lower amount. We only had 3 runs like that.

Okay that sounds okay. I need the exercise anyhow haha. Are some of the reefer runs to Canada?
