I work here in Las Vegas. We haul 129,500 all day and more. Welcome to dirt. The pay is dirt and no one is legal. Gotta remember it’s a race to the bottom and everyone’s trying to make the most by staying the cheapest at hauling. So that little extra makes up after awhile. Is it wrong? Yes but it is the industry.
you say you’re gonna work for the boring company I say good luck. We’ve been hauling for them the past 3 years and they are very bad at paying there bills. We often have to stop sending trucks to them until they pay something. Not one operator there has been there from
The beginning of project at the convention center. Lots of young “engineers” but no actual experience workers.
What are you thoughts on hauling overweight out of the quarry?

Late to the party, but back when I drove dumps, the quarries in my local area wouldn't even let you leave the facility if you were overweight. There was usually a dump off pile(s) near the scale to trim your load to get legal.

Why not just ask the guy out right if he was asking you to load heavy? I mean hell there ain’t no reason to pussyfoot around the subject

Never mind the mule, just keep loading the wagon.

Good on you for sticking to your guns, will that same dip wad that asked you to run heavy pay your bail and take the charge when you’re involved in a fatality? And I say this from someone in the industry, I pull a frameless everyday and have for the last 7 years, load it legal or it doesn’t go.

I did dirt/aggregates in Ca. We were legal before leaving the "Pit" . We pulled on the scale, read our weight and even before the scalemaster could say something, we pulled off and trimmed if needed. However, Ca. has many CHP scales and they enforce on the highways too. Kinda' a mutual respect for trucking/police agencies. These are the rules, obey them and we will get along just fine. Also I notice in Vegas area, just 1 scale on the 15 inbound, so I can see bossman encourging drivers to run heavy around town. Plus 105' length limit.
