Romy Schneider said the same. Schneider tried, but failed to hire her. No reefer job openings at Schneider. Reefer drivers make more money.

Some intermodal drivers did quite well while I was there.
It's amazing how much you could make when the customer & the railyard were fairly close to each other.
Some of them even might have been able to afford Romy.....

@Lady Kay --
If you are still looking for that very first carrier to start things off -- & are put off by the idea of running with a really large fleet, or so-called "mega-carrier"...where you are a name/number on a big list -- you might like to know about/look into driving for Wiley Sanders, in Troy, AL:
Truck Lines | Company Fleet | Shippers | On-Time Delivery | Wiley Sanders | Troy, Alabama
They have a starter/training program for brand new drivers that isn't too short; a lady co-worker I know started out with them -- & she is a very good driver.
I see their rigs quite a bit, & their equipment always appears to be in good shape.
Their fleet appears to be ALL Kenworth tractors.
They pull other types of freight besides just dry van (example: dry bulk tanker) -- so you could get diversified freight experience there, also.
