Pretty sure all LTL companies work the same. What specifically are you looking for?

 

LtL companies usually have a dock to driver program. So that part is true. Everything else is straight forward. He’ll work the dock with a forklift. Just loading and offloading trailers all shift with a forklift. Nothing much to it.

If he’s being offered the dock to driver then he should take it. Easiest way to jump into trucking without having to sale his soul to a mega carrier and get paid cheap.

 

Does that terminal have any box trucks?
Estes hired one driver on here, that has a cdl and no experience, to drive box trucks.

 

Yes, we have quite a few. If he was hired by them to drive one, I'm sure they have one.

 

Stay on the dock. Why everyone wants to drive is beyond me. Here is how to make money in trucking. Stay out of it. On the dock you have home time. You have job security. You really have to fork something up to be let go. Not so as a driver. No DOT physicals. Why worry every two years if they’ll let you keep driving? Home time. It’s important.

keep the dock job. Unless it pays nothing but I can’t imagine it’s bad. If so leave Estes.

 

Yes, this is a great terminal to get a driver position at. Can move up fast.
