    "Should I?"

Where would we be if Christopher Columbus or Neil Armstrong had asked themselves that question?

It's still America. If there's something you want to do and you have conviction, then pin back your ears and go for it.

i gotta go with dont do it. Hauling trash is not lucrative. I understand the draw to wanting to work local but there are jobs out there with your experience that is weekly hometime, company driver, and pay is 100K or more a year. if your owner operator and your 1 truck breaks down .. what do you do? nothing but lose money..

But he is going about it in a different way. Not common freight. Daycare, not sleeper. You all know more than me, but if he lines up prospects first, it may work.

Care to share what company that would be?. Seems like there's alot of "not-hiring" going on.

Of course it depends where you live. I know of a few but all of them are location dependent.

I try not to ever say never, but he.. anyone... needs more than a years experience before becoming an O/O. It ain't just about driving. It's about experience, how the industry works & how the rules work. Not just for the driver but for the company. You can get yourself in a pickle quick not knowing the rules. It ain't just what you read out of a book. It's about experience... first hand knowledge. A person needs to read the book but he needs to know how it works in reality. The book may give you the rules, but it don't explain business. This is a hard industry, a hard business & its highly regulated.

Columbus and Armstrong were prepared? Columbus was lost and Armstrong was a COMPANY driver. Actually so was Columbus. The queen funded his trip.
