I wanna buy a truck and trailer cash not in a rush to put it to work as I’m making 2200 a week company driver. Is getting my own authority with paid truck & trailer still be worth it?

I’d just sit tight where you are and keep piling up the cash
$2200 a week ins someone else’s rig ain’t bad at allSL3406, rabbiporkchop, ducnut and 12 others Thank this. -
I wouldn't get my own authority right now. Even some of the specialty niches are feeling the effects of the economy. Being a company man isn't such a bad idea right now.
rabbiporkchop, Arctic_fox, Crude Truckin' and 5 others Thank this. -
2200 a week is good. The money isn't strong right now. Do you want to dry van?rabbiporkchop, Rideandrepair, Sons Hero and 1 other person Thank this.

Rates still suck, don't do it.
rabbiporkchop and TX2Day Thank this. -
Guarantee sticking with that $2200 for 10 years will net you more money. Especially if you max out any 401k match. Do they offer such a thing? Insurance? Any other perks? 114k a year and I can walk away anytime I want and sleep knowing I don’t have to pay for even a valve stem cap?
Sign me up. For all the successful truckers on here and I even question those - people are always hiding something and it’s the internet; there are 1000 who weren't as successful and came and went. Especially anyone with their own authority. Many won’t even work with new guys so now you’re stuck hauling cheap garbage to get months in the game. Unless you have customers lined up. I love those on here. They did what million dollar companies couldn’t. Got guaranteed dedicated freight with brand new authority.
I have a bridge for sale if anyone is interested.rabbiporkchop, ducnut, Soltaker and 4 others Thank this. -
I would think about the missed opportunity to establishing business credit. Even if you can drop that kind of cash (good for you), establishing credit as a business goes a long way in the future. Just a thoughtRideandrepair Thanks this.

Most think if they pay cash they will instantly start making money hand over fist, lol, to many confuse purchase price with running cost
even if you can afford cash for a new one, I would take a note out for however long you plan on depreciating it for, never hurts to have extra cash, even if you put it in something higher interest like a CDducnut, OldeSkool, Arctic_fox and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah remaining liquid in this industry is vital and hard to do. Cash is king but credit saves you a lot of headaches. Imagine paying cash for a truck and trailer only to have the motor take a crap on you. Then whatcha gonna do, strap a fifth wheel to your back and blow like hell?
rabbiporkchop and Rideandrepair Thank this.
