My logbook is 100% legal. Always has been, always will be. You guys claiming you can't find somewhere to park when your 14 or 11 runs out are a riot.
Maybe you could try, oh I dunno, PLANNING AHEAD?!?!
I've been driving a few days shy of a year now and not once have I had to worry about where to park when my time is up. Most of the time I know where I'm parking it for the night before I pull out in the morning! If not in the morning then before I leave my last drop/pickup/stop. It's not rocket science!

That's actually a pretty good answer. You have some luxuries I don't have running regional. It's really hard to be totally within the letter of the law when you do 400-600 mile runs, get held up at customers, have weird & conflicting P/U & del appointments, sometimes wait 6 -12 hours to be loaded and refuse to sleep in the truck when you run out of hours 45 miles from home.
I have to respect you for building a life that works for you. I've built one that works for me, even if I have to occasionally ignore moronic bureaucratic attempts to regulate my behavior. -
It's nice to see that you can be a super trucker after "a few days shy of a year"
Where do you park in the SF Bay Area when you've been held up at a shipper for 8 hours or caught in traffic, or delayed by weather?
I await your insight. -
Just wait until the EOBR/QC systems are tied into the ECM......
It's gonna be riot when those trucks won't start after sitting at the docks and the clocks run out....... -
Whenever I'm in the Bay area.....it's a quick "in and out".....No place to really park 75' of tractor-trailer.....legally......

You guys seem to have quite a few trucks running out there from what I've seen.
I've been out there a time or two in the last month and have seen quite a few on I-5 or maybe I've seen the same few trucks running their ##### off.
I'm sure I've seen your truck a time or two...If you drive the one in the picture that you posted on the other thread, 'cause I've seen one a couple of times that looks exactly like it. -
A friend of mine has a yard in Gilroy and I leave my trailer there when I stay in San Jose...Locked up and safe from thieves and graffitti.
Our kid has a big driveway at his house in San Jose so I just park the tractor there when I stay there.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
There's nothing "super" about playing by the rules.
If I've got an appointment and I don't feel anything going in/coming out of my trailer in the first hour, you better believe I'm off my ### and inside talking to someone with authority. Then I'm back in there every 30 minutes riding them hard to get the load done. If you just sit in your truck and wait, they'll let you sit. Granted I've come across a few places that stated "we'll get to it when we we get to it", but that attitude doesn't fly with me. As soon as I hear that and I'm 2 hours beyond the appointment time, I'm on the phone/Qualcomm to my DM or whoever is in the office. I also make it abundantly clear to whoever is running the show at the shipper/receiver that at "x" time I have to leave or they will be seeing my truck parked there for at least 8 hours. I hold them to the same standard they hold us.
As far as traffic or weather goes, that's a no brainer. Use the radio/tv/internet, check the weather/traffic reports. This is 2010, not 1985. Planning ahead does not mean to check the aforementioned items 30 minutes before you're gonna be screwed. -
