If I go to the DMV to take the Hazmat test, will my current CDL License be stamped in order for the new one to be updated assuming I pass? Can I ask them not to stamp the current CDL License until I receive another one in the mail?

Your current license will not be stamped; instead, you'll get a new one...with the endorsement on it.

they cut your current CDL license normally a corner and print you a temporary paper copy. pretty similar manner done when you update your address too only difference is the hazmat test. In the event they don't cut it keep in mind it is illegal have two DL I have had one case they told me I could cut it later I forget the reason they didn't but they didn't and was told by a sheriff it is illegal to be in my possession. nothing came out my situation but only because I knew him personally small town...

Did you already do the hazmat ELDT and the background check and fingerprinting?

In my state they immediately give me a new paper version of my license with the endorsement on it and I either comes back in a day or two to get the standard plastic covered CDL or they mail it to me address. NOBODY STAMPS ANYTHING.

Isn’t the ELDT only for new drivers?

Effective February 7th, 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) established federal regulations requiring entry-level drivers to complete entry level driver training (ELDT) when they are seeking a Class A or B CDL for the first time, upgrading to a Class A or B CDL or obtaining a passenger (P), school bus (S) or a hazardous material (H) endorsement for the first time. Entry-level driver applicants must obtain training from a training provider listed on the Training Provider Registry (TPR).

I'm fanatical about this because I've had the state tell me twice "yeah everything is good" and then days later cancel or revoke or similar & only find out later many states away.

Don't bet your CDL or jail time on a clerk giving half a Frick about doing their job correctly.
