It was a giant paper application, and a packet stating all they offer to potential drivers. It sounded really good but some threads on here about them make me hesitate to say the least.

You've gotta be careful listening to a wannabe like me, but I just looked at their SafeStat History and they seem to be moving in the wrong direction even though they had a Compliance Review about 18 months ago. Maybe a veteran driver can weigh in here and make head or tails of that. I've read more than a few posts in which the poster says, "Don't worry about it, just get the experience!" So, I dunno....just my $0.01 worth.

They sent me a whole bunch of stuff when I got out of school in 2008. Postcards, documents, even a few phone calls. I was turned off when they told me they hired at .26 mile. Even with long trips I would have to kill myself to get a decent check. The few drivers that I did talk to didn't have much bad to say though.

I'm looking forward to hearing all I can about Stevens Transport, I would like to see and hear all there is to hear and see, I got a call from them today inviting me to come to Dallas and see what we can get done. Thanks to all posters here both good and bad. Thanks. TD.

Never worked for them but consider this. Any carriers are similar to those nice looking pairs of cowboy boots, no matter how nice they are if it doesn't fit, it'll be hard to go far in them.

Don't settle for OTR bull crap.

These companies are all a scam and make profit on the backs of unsuspecting newbs. I won't turn a single mile for any OTR company that recruits from schools. I would rather starve.

Stevens is a starter company, just like a lot of others. Probably better than some (way better than CR England) but perhaps worse than others. I wouldn't recommend starting with any reefer company, dealing with produce and grocery warehouses are the worst. And lots of 2 - 4AM delivery times. I only experienced 2 weeks of it, and never looked at reefer again. But that's just my opinion.

As to the pay, most starter companies are only going to pay you somewhere between 25 and 30 cents a mile, at start. Even experienced drivers are currently hard pressed to find better pay.
