Start by applying...you know...an employment application, at any Taco Bell, McD's, or Dairy Queen. But then again...you could run for President of the United States!

Well..... if you want specific advise then it would be helpful to know a little bit more about your situation.

Other than that I'd have to agree ....... put in some applications.

Don't know what you are on SSI for but if it will hamper a driving career that might be a problem in itself.

You don't say if you already have a CDL or not. If you are looking to get trained by a company there are way more than 4or 5 companies that offer trianing keep applying until you find one that will take you. This site is a wonderful source of info, you'll find most of them on here somewhere.

If that doesn't work apply everywhere non-trucking that you can, then you will have a work hiistory. Then repeat the application process again.

Or - figure out a way to go to CDL school on your own and then apply as above. If you can't get a driving job at first maybe you could get some other type of entry level job at a small trucking company and work your way into a driver spot.

Or - apply for any job that you can with any company that has trucks and maybe they will train you and then at some point move you into a driver position.

Don't rely on the internet, get out there and knock on doors. A lot of smaller companies are looking for people and they don't have websites or recruiters either. They need to see you in person.

    See?

Ok - I'n not tryin' to be rude here .... really..... but you're obviously not gettin' this.

If you are looking here to find someone that will say "go to _____ company and they will give you a job" .... it prolly won't happen.

Please understand that since you have been unemployed for at least seven years.. ok, 'cept for the 2 week temp thingy...... you have nothing to offer an employer. Nothing. Yes you have a class A and a clean MVR, so do about a zillion other people.

You need a work history. You're 28 and suddenly you want a trucking job? WTF buck? You want someone to consider turning you loose with about $200k worth of equipment and who knows how much worth of load with only two weeks of experience remodeling a Dollar strore?

I used to know a guy who was unemployed for most of his adult life and his dad said that the reason he could never get a job was because no one came to the house to offer him one. Get it?

You have a choice, either go bust yer but to get any job and build a work history or, sit around and whine about how "you called 4 or 5 trucking companies" and no one would give you a job.

    Its on you.

And that friend is my 2 cents - worth exactly what you paid for it. If I offended you I'm sorry but, it is what it is.

If it was me , I do agree with them need some sort of work history, get a letter from a doctor stating your good health wise to drive a truck and send that in with your app. , If it was something mental your chances of getting a driving job i hate to say is slimmer if not at all. If you have a mental break alot of us might remember the dick simon driver that rode up in the state capital in CA. some years ago .Wasn't long after they went belly up. Also if you are on meds make sure they to are good to go . Keep trying if driving is something you want to do. Try companies that offer CDL training even though you have a CDL you'll probably need a refresher and a trainer, good luck in your search

Well then ....... good luck, sincerely. Don't give up easily, it's tough right now for a lot of people but, keep after it get A job settle in a little and then work on the next step, maybe gettin' that driving job.

It is always easier to get a job when you already have one. True dat.
