The average trucking downturn historically in this country last eight months. We are currently in month 21 with the current trucking downturn. With no sign in the near future of turning back around. So we basically are in uncharted water at this point as to where the industry is going to go from here. Until interest rates go back to a lower range and certain changes come about with peoples voting habits, we’re probably going to stay right where we’re at or it may even get worse. I would just get in with whatever company you and ride it out.
Eventually, but who knows when at this point, it has to turn back around and the good news is the trucking industry is always the first flourish. The demand happens even before data shows a rebound in economic activity. It’s always first. When that will happen, at this point? Is anyone’s guess.
How much experience do you need to get on with a good company?

Yes , they watch you constantly .
inside and out.
you don’t think so ,?
Drop your clothes and start spanking the monkey or drink what appears to be beer ,
The ######## and sit and watch drivers all day , will see you .
say, do the dispatchers have a camera facing them all day so
The drivers can log in and see what they are doing?
yeah , I didnt think so
I got
My own dashcam, but it’s forward facing
here’s a thread about a driver getting fired for doing the right thing , because the company always watches the camera footage .

If they want to label you a “job hopper”. It’s because they know they have problems and you won’t stay.

My second best job required 3 years experience. A little unpretentious add in Craigslist. A definite no BS company. No benefits. Not great pay per mile. Great miles. Used to do 4k in a week at least once a month. Adjoining weeks were good too. Bunch of old drivers with millions of miles each. They were all there because of NO BS!
My best job now required 5 years experience. Only three other drivers (not including boss/owner). They’re all older many miles. Dedicated coast to coast hazmat run. Great time off at home. For once! About 40 hours one week. 3 1/2 days the other. Good pay and benefits. Strict schedule. Takes some getting used to. I sat out 20 something below forecast last winter in Portland. Boss didn’t argue. One other driver drove through it in Montana. Was 37 below. Later that driver said never again. That is just plain dangerous.
Edit: This job was also off Craigslist. Local Rapid City. Company based in Ohio. He did this because his drivers take their breaks in Rapid. Couldn’t believe nobody else applied. We have tanker fuel drivers in Rapid. None of them applied. They have to be out several nights a week. I make 50% more than they do.Last edited: Jul 27, 2024
