I just quoted a guy 12k for rebuild his 01 12.7 that’s sitting in a shop. That is Head work, inframe kit, water pump, bull gear, etc only thing that was left to him is Injectors. I also set the ECM to run more efficiently.
The last 14L 60 series I had 36hrs in. I stand behind all work with warranty.

That was last September. Quote was from Stoops Freightliner in Lima Ohio. Set up a cash account for discount. They’re pretty good on prices. Wouldn’t be surprised if prices have gone up.Oxbow Thanks this.

How much would cost to re ring pistons on 12.7 detroit pre egr? Did overhaul 110k miles ago but they never settled. Little oil out of breather and around a gallon and a half oil between oil intervals. Also need front cover resealedRideandrepair Thanks this.
-
probably as much as it cost to rebuild it the first time could bon ami the motor to get the rings to seat or ajaxRideandrepair Thanks this.

Having mine done as we speak. Reman Detroit head $4600. PAI kit $3600. Doing oil pump and a few other things…give ya total bill next Friday
martin2722 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
How bad is the front cover leaking? Sometimes the rings can be stubborn to seal up. Brand new engine typically seal up around 70k. Maybe it’s leaking more than burning. I’d give it some time. Front cover is an expensive job. Might as well change bull gear, reseal inner/outer covers, replace front crank seal and vibration damper.

It has 110k on OH, it's not leaking a lot, but hate seeing leaks overall, did the bullgear but i don't think they did the dumper.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Also found yellow residue on oil cap and droplets on the ground by the blowby tune, shop dropped pan did pressure tested for 2days and stated no internal leak

They should have sealed it when they did the bull gear. Unless they didn’t re seal the inner cover. Bull gear needs to be removed to seal the inner, not the outer.martin2722 Thanks this.
