Why not just stay and deliver shingles? Sounds like they can’t find drivers. Ask for a raise.
gentleroger Thanks this. -
This is the mindset in the trucking industry. Companies, brokers, and loadboards view drivers whether company or owner operators as a dine a dozen and having no value or worth. Why is this so acceptable in trucking? It's because truckers have no one or organization to support them. They see drivers as individuals without recourse. That's all gonna change, soon.

I've had seversl loads of shingles, they were loaded and unloaded on pallets. All the idiot driver had to do was stand around and make a digital nasal exploration. Obviously I was doing this all wrong and should have been helping to stack and un-stack the shingles on the pallets themselves. My apologies to the logistic technicians, I attribute this oversight to my advanced age and deteriorating mental state.

Sounds like the normal crying donk's, doing local work, most of the local drivers I have meet are pretty much worthless, beating on their chest about what they have done, hmmm don't care. Local Class B work is not training for OTR Class A work, not even close. If I wanted to load and unload trucks I would get a job as a lumper, by your description, your a lumper not a driver, and certainly not a roofer. Good luck.
I have worked for several local companies like New Bern (Pepsi), Kemira Water Treatment, UPS freight and this is what they all sound like, all the while trying to stretch out the day to make max money for the little work they put out. Want no part of them. These guys make all drivers look bad.surf_avenue Thanks this. -
Your tagline says it all “Company Shill of BYOB & CBD”. Wouldn’t want you getting high and falling off a roof now. The guys that transport the shingles on flatbeds can’t even read the big signs that say “Transporters stop here. Bring your paperwork inside and wait to be escorted in”. Then after they park blocking the gate they take 2 hours to unstrap because they get winded and have to take a break every 15 minutes.Last edited: Jul 28, 2024

Throwing shingles is what I found after rejecting Heartlands outlandish offer. I’d have to drive 2400 miles a week with heartland just to make what I make before overtime
This is the best Gym I’ve ever been to. I get paid to show up and drive a crane or conveyor truck pulling a pup trailer all while getting to go home and sleep in my own bed every night.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I haven't been involved with BYOB&CBD for several years, I just never changed my tag line. I do try to keep in touch with my former employees with birthday cards, Christmas cards and such.
I haven't delivered a load of shingles in forever, but I think the last time it took me about 40 minutes total to unstrap, untarp, rollup straps, fold and secure tarps. Also included 2 water breaks and a
break.

Still waiting for above stated trinkets.....
And, Honest TB, who tarps shingles? Worked for an O/O who was the in house carrier for IKO, out of Chicago ( Bedford Park). The only time shingles were tarped, was when they loaded one of the 2 curtainwalls we had. -
Is that right? What is your crystal ball telling you? Mine has been fogged up for quite a while. Care to share any of this information with the assembled masses?TB John Thanks this.
