I have recently stopped driving for a few reasons and have decided to install my cb and linear in my pickup. Can anyone tell me about how far from the computer should a linear be installed as to not interfere with the workings of the vehicle? Its a palomar 400

    Bird man Thanks this.

Well the computer is in the dash so id suggest putting it behind the seat or under it to reduce the risk of it interfering with the computer.

I have my palomar behind the passengers seat. I haven't had any issues with it and I have had it for a year now.

If the vehicle's computer is not well shielded, I would think you would get RFI from the antenna more than the amplifier itself.

really it all depends on the year of the vehical if its an early 90's or late 80's model and up you should be fine cause most of them are sheilded pretty darn good

Put it where ever you want to,if its a newer Palomar its likely doing less then half the watts the face plate says anyway :biggrin_2559:

225-250 watts isnt going to fuzz an ECM

I was thinking the same thing! You could probably set that Amp on top of the computer, and even wire it in with it, and be OK....:biggrin_255:

To those that answered my question thank you very much...
it is a '05 ford but I think just to be safe I will place it behind the seat lol.

To those that apparently have nothing better to do but belittle and talk down to others. You must be those on the radio that the rest of us call the CB-RAMBOS. Is it that hard to either keep your mouth shut or talk in a polite manner....ugh and people wonder why I never turned the CB on when I drove. And if you really must know.

what do you need a linear 4 anyway? No one is listening to cb radio anyway! Unless you're 1 of those children that have to have a big radio, it's just a colossal waste of time and money!
