A new chapter begins and a new home for the Morehouse/fcc orphans

And the next time you say anything about not having seen any accidents in a while I'm not agreeing with you like I did yesterday, today was a war zone. Even my detours had detours.

 

The entire state of Kentucky lost their dang minds this morning in the rain. The ditches looked like Iowa after a blizzard.

 

If it makes you feel any better the person filling in for my DM on Tuesday has 20 years in the industry. She sent a message asking me to confirm my eta to my next stop, I responded with 1730. She ignored that and told the customer 0830 Wednesday, so they went home early. That meant instead of leaving Atlanta at 0400, I left at 0930, which meant burning my 11 in traffic and getting to my next stop just in time for them to go to lunch. That meant I hit Nashville at rush hour and called it a day at the KY border instead of making at least Georgetown. I am currently 1:15 away from the house and have 54 minutes on my 11.

And she wonders why I was massively pissed with her. "Well, you should still be able to make it" - yeah, it was theoretically possible with two hard days of driving, and I'd still have missed dinner.

 

Couldn't use rain as a reason here this morning. Don't know what was in the air but it was bad. Tanker driver lost it on 80/94 in Hammond and ended up up with the tractor and part of the trailer in the West bound lanes and the rest of the trailer hanging over the dividing barrier blocking the East bound lanes.

Central Transport driver cashed out on 65 when he got tangled up with some Fed Ex pup trucks. Haven't seen a cab destroyed like that in years.

Lost load across I-55.

I was on 94 westbound yesterday morning, eastbound side had a Foodliner in the ditch, with 2 lanes blocked. Then coming back eastbound around 1ish, don't know what the holdup was, but 2.5 hrs, from the Illinois line, to mile 12 in Indiana

 

Yeah, I tried to run the skyway to avoid that mess. Would have been better to get off on US 30 and run that over to the Bishop Ford, but the signs bwfore US 30 were only saying "left lane blocked", not "left 3 lanes blocked". I was just past Ridge when traffic came to a standstill and I decided to roll the dice and let the company pay the enormous and egregious toll. Wrong choice.

 

I gor off 65 at 30 and ran that over to Calumet then up to 80/94, but only because Google maps said take the Skyway but in 20 moles of driving on 65 the time.to destination. Only went down 3 minutes. It was pretty heavy but still better than trying to muddle thru that mess.
