The bottom line: Plenty of people have been job hopping outside of LTL and grocery, for years, and they don't seem to be having a problem walking in to any decent company outside of LTL and grocery; A.K.A. 'waiting list' companies.. I've been doing it the last six years and would basically have to go to Walmart of UPS to upgrade from where I'm at now. Legacy company, good shops and roadside, layover/dead-head/stop/breakdown pay, PTO and 401k, top safety score industry-wide etc..
The day they start punishing proven-drivers for saying no this industry will be officially done for.. It really will be ONLY people desperate for a paycheck who couldn't get hired in any other industry..

Yeah, im thinking that the problem lies with op as well being uniquely poor at assessing the companies he's with. The 6 time divorcee has a corrollary here, either
1. theyre garbage at picking spouses
2. Or theyre a garbage personbryan21384, RockinChair and gentleroger Thank this. -
I signed up with my fourth company in just over 2 years on Friday and I start with them next Monday. I've pretty much decided that either this job is going to work out for me or I am just going to get out of trucking because this company is offering me pretty much everything I could want so either it works or it doesn't. I've got the schedule I want, the routes I want to drive, and even the truck I want down to my preferred paint color.

so you went with another company you didn’t stay. OK , we wish you the best of luck. trucking companies are gonna give you everything you want to get you in the door and then everything‘s gonna change. I will guarantee it. I’ve been in his business for 50 years , And nothing stays the samebryan21384 Thanks this.

Job hopping like that means that you just haven't figured out that its the industry you hate and not the jobs. I would say that staying in would just be a waste of your and any company's time.bryan21384 Thanks this.

My experience has been that I worked with the first company because they offered a CDL program and I only intended to work out my contract and then leave for a better opportunity. The second company was one overpromised and very much underdelivered, I became very concerned with them due to safety issues with their equipment. The third one I was actually very happy with for the most part but my big issue with them is that they keep their equipment on the road well past it's expiration date and I just don't want to do the type of work that is expected by them anymore due to health concerns.
With #4 I did two months of research on all sorts of different trucking companies and really took my time to decide on who is offering me the closest to what I wanted out of everyone. I had three offers on the table and went with the company they gave me the offer that was closest filling all my expectations. I know things will not be perfect but like I said if this doesn't work out then Trucking is not going to work out for me, period.Wargames Thanks this. -
This one. As a driver gains experience, he or she should have an idea of how to assess companies. I am also of the opinion that many drivers have too high of expectations and that's why they experience so much disappointment. Many drivers have a diva mentality, like a company can't survive without them individually. They swear it's NFL free agency lol.gentleroger and Blagoje Thank this.

I do actually think you're right about this, and i've recently realised the same thing. The only things I like are the free place to live (truck), not spending money on your car's gas, and getting exercise since I like touch frieght. Meanwhile just gritting my teeth, living in the truck and saving as much money as I can so I have something to show for it, and get out in a few years.Blagoje Thanks this.

Nice, I just did the same except I got hired at 2 good private carriers. Gonna choose one soon. And I was thinking the same as you about it. Good luck boss. And if thats you in your thumbnail, you have the exact same beard as my barber.Blagoje Thanks this.
