It's way more complex than that. The areas that stayed owner occupied are as middle class as they were when I grew up there, full of people who fled the city because of crime. The areas that switched to rentals are the hell holes. And the two are often in close proximity. The subdivision I grew up in is the latter, while where I lived during HS is 3 miles away and the former.

 

Nothing complex about certain groups of people and crime rates.

 

It would be amazing if those certain groups of people held themselves to the same level of accountability as they do everyone else. As a whole, they’d be doing a lot better in life.

 

Right. Yet somehow we're the "privileged" ones.

 

Well i guess it's nice that when she gets out of prison she wont owe any restitution.
I mean who cares about kids going hungry for several summers.
