I don't blame him, I wouldnt hire anyone without all the endorsements.
I will get all my endorsements on my own. It was more of seeing something new and only 3 miles away. I don't blame the manager I wouldnt want to hire anyone without the endorsements either. I said I will stay with my current company and get my endorsements and come back in 3 months. But he still said no no no we can continue. To me is pointless if we will have to do the whole process again in 3 months.

Yeah same happened to me, i got my endorsement for hazmat cleared during the first week i started since it was already in the process. They said theyd cover the cost. Asked a couple times about it, they said, "oh yeah, we will get on that." Never got paid out but the couple hundred bucks isnt a big deal compared to what im making so i didnt push it.

At least im not in washington with their stupid ### 500-700 dollar hazmat cost.

Not sure I follow. What part takes 3 months? At worst, the Hazmat background check could take a few weeks, but everything else can be done in a day.

I can agree with that. It took me three tries, but I think I found my home unless I go full time OTR again, which I don’t know if that’ll happen or not again. I have a set route, know where I’m going pretty much every day, same truck same trailer same dock. My customers have gotten to know me, and a few trust me enough to drop in their place if they’re not there, so I got that going.

    No slip seating too?

That’s the icing on the cake.

None at all. Only time I get another truck, is if I take another route or my truck needs a shop visit.

Running the same equipment every day eliminates about half the headaches of this job, IMHO.

Saia as well in the Midwest as extraboard guy. Few times I only got 4 days. Which is fine because I still made good money. I have been running on average 2600-2900 miles a week. Freight seems pretty steady. I can't complain, being home everyday and only averaging low 50 hours a week for the money is pretty nice.

    Agreed.

Sharing trucks really blows. I’d have to say my biggest gripe is when other drivers load up the cab with air fresheners. I just don’t get it; why would anyone purposefully want to breathe these things in an enclosed space for up to 12+ hours per day? These fresheners are basically artificially scented paint thinner. Whenever I’m assigned a tractor that some other driver ‘put his mark on’ with these cursed things, I throw them out. Problem is, the chemicals are so potent, they actually absorb into the cab interior, kinda like cigarette smoke. It’s so strong that my clothes all reek of pine fresh or strawberry cream or some other man made bull**** at the end of the day. Plus my sinuses are wasted as well. Nothing pleasant about fresheners in any way other than in shortening the lifespan of the dorks that install them.
