By what I am hearing, they're converting that truckstop to an all 'paid parking' location. They're closing the lot the last week of this month to repave and convert it. They already have some of the exit partitions up going out the drive behind the fuel shack.

Unloaded my vinyl fencing this morning in Riverside. 1 of our trucks ahead of me and one pulled in behind.

Sent in my empty and my load came across as a two stopper. Picking up in Costa Mesa (more irrigation parts) with one stop in Deshler and the other in Valley. They could’ve loaded this one in a van. It took 3 of my 4 tarps to tarp it, being 26 pallets.

 

Anyone going to Home Depot DC or Target in Topeka, Wenger Street is closed at 57th street. You have to go up to Topeka BLVD and follow the detour and come in the back way. It’s a bit of a S.O.B. buts it’s not terrible. I dropped that went over to the off site lot and got an empty and came back to KC and came home. My DM told me there’s not much going on they are gonna see what gets loaded tomorrow morning. Upon arrival at the yard; she wasn’t kidding. Just doing a quick drive by inspection I saw a handful of Mars seals, 1 Kawasaki and a BUNCH of empties. This election year can’t end soon enough.

 

Heads up guys, KS closing a 32 mile stretch of I-70 for bridge work next week. Sounds like it could get ugly.

It’s out in western KS so i don’t think it will be that terrible. Locals will probably use Old 40 instead of going all the way up to 24. Old 40 is mostly a dirt road out there though so semis are out of luck

 

Coming from the west people will just jump off at Colby anyway instead of going to Grainfield and having to come back north. I’m sure 23 will be a mess because the truckers that never leave the interstate will be scared and hugging the center. I can see some lost mirrors during that day. Or people getting sucked out into the ditch if they drop a wheel off.

 

Headed to Edwardsville IL with dog food. Any tips or tricks I need to know about DB Schenker or what a potential backhaul might be? I know used to they had dedicated guys doin that and if memory serves they were just bouncing back to KC. But idk if that’s still the case.
