It was near midnight when we got to his house in Knoxville. He was still up waiting lol. Next morning he said he had trouble going to sleep because he was thinking about the Jeep lol….

I bet he couldn't believe it.

Thought you would like this. One school district over is putting this on. Something I can agree and say schools are doing some good.

We're overlooking the real issue here. The fact they need to put on a course for this. I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of us here could drive a tractor or skid steer decently by the time we were 10.

Not saying this course is a bad thing by any means though. Any time you get a chance to obtain new knowledge or skills is a win in my books.

Not to disagree, but many of us, as you say, learned by early age, but it was a different time back then. Most of us learned by the seat of our pants, of course, many of the safety aspects, we may have learned the hard way. Considering the automation of everything, I agree with you that the new knowledge/skills is the way to look at this, as there are many folks that don't necessarily use this equipment as much as in days gone by, so the opportunities to learn the way we may have, may not be available to this generation. :)
PLUS...upon completion, they get a certification that lays the ground work for possible employment and running said equipment types.

Well this is a very rual school. We all have "drive your tractor to school days". But that still doesn't include all the kids.

I just think it's a neat idea. Should have a shooting safety class in schools. But I bet you can't get that one approved.

I've attended alot of classes/seminars as a adult in fields of experience. Normally still learned something everytime.
