Been at Roehl for quite some time! And I've never not one time have had a problem with home time request. I can even request it days out and they will beeline me home. And will usually have my load dropped inside an hour from my house. And will just ask how long I'm staying out and what day I want to launch.
Sometimes it comes down to the value of the driver! Not the company (whatever company) just be #####!
Some drivers nowadays don't want to put in the work and just expect everything to be given to them. Earn you keep ya know! This is trucking!
If the wheels ain't turning, you ain't earning!
Company won't let me go home for off time.

It's those last few statements you made that are worth it's weight in gold!
Drivers nowadays don't understand that!drivingmissdaisy and tscottme Thank this. -

I sold my house if all the reasons you stated! Sold both cars! Only thing I can't seem to let go of is the Harley. But it made my Trucking Lifestyle SO much easier! And my God it simplified the month bills! I just straight stack money now in hopes of that cushy retirement! I stay at my sister's when I go home.
My home is my truck! But not everyone can embrace that kinda lifestyle.kemosabi49 and tscottme Thank this. -
How are you going to retire if you don't have a home to retire to? You better save money, the cost of housing is through the roof.
I don't pay for any services other than water and electricity to my house. It costs me 65 dollars a year in taxes, and it's paid off.
No thanks, selling your house and needing to buy another overpriced house later on is ridiculous. My house doesn't cost me much at all and its a place I can call HOME. And its been paid off for 7 years.Last edited: Aug 23, 2024

I'm guessing your house is paid off. Which is awesome. I still had almost 15yrs left. But had alot of equity in it. Which when sold all that money was placed in an IUL Policy (Index Universal Life) and probably a year or 2 before I come off the road, I already own property down in SC and will build a next little home there.

Louisiana, homestead exemption.
And that includes weekly free trash service, too! LOL But I don't really use it but once a month, as I'm not home more often than that.Born2win Thanks this.
