Lol, no just a deep rooted fear of hitting something like a bridge...I absolutely hate running overweight.

Wide I love and can do all day everyday and have run out to 24 feet wide, no problem, but put me tall and I hate it lol

A lot of the trucks that pull end dump will bleed pressure into the cylinder and lift it up if the stick is left in the up position, my truck does it, even with the PTO off, a couple of the other trucks I have driven for different companies would do it also. So the box would slowly lift up as you were driving. In my truck I have a gate over the button that gets flipped down every time I get a trailer completely lowered so I don't accidentally hit it to the up position when I am driving. I put it there after getting back from a short haul trip into a pit and my box was lifted up about 5 feet into the air.

It isn't measured because they aren't even aware that they could be tall. Most if these guys hitting bridges lack any common sense.

I don't know about others but I can pretty easily tell if somethings overheight by looking at it if it's over 14ft. Just have to know the height of your tractor and you should be able to eye ball it from there. The high point on my truck is the stacks and light bar at 12'6". So pretty easy to judge if something is about a foot taller that it's legal.

These guys slamming into bridges almost always have a full height sleeper so the top of the tractor should be 13'4" - 13'6". If it's over that it's too tall.

I have a 20ft height stick in my truck. Had a bunch of 16+ft loads a while back so spent the extra $40 for the taller stick. Easily worth the $200 to know exact height of tall loads.

I was going to say, when I drove, I measured my full height sleeper so I'd now that...and yes about 13'4" is what it was, so I knew anything to much above was going to be scraping the bridges at 13'6". Like you said, though. The driver has to give a danm to care and check..and most drivers, especially at the mills, don't think about that. They can barely afford a CB radio, let alone a measuring stick, but they can afford a tape measure to find that out, if they care to.

I was the opposite, heavy, high and long I could manage, but if I couldn't see down the sides in my mirrors I felt a pain as if my eyes had been poked out. Also, back then I never had a measuring stick, just a 6 foot steel tape and I would climb up the load and, starting from there, measure downwards to the ground. Only a max of 3 measures.
