Advice for a felon with accidents in a rut right now.

    I guess the grass is always greener as they say... wait until you see the pallets haha! Just getting them off the truck into the store can be a major struggle if they're bad pallets, plus rain, snow, etc. Also have to watch out for pallets having the wrong tag, out of order, etc. I hear you on bad docks, I've had to deal with that myself with some of the grocery stores.

    Oh I don't doubt any of that #### having to deal with bad freight and unloading it. Like I said, I would never do it. I'm a driver, not an unloader.

    Ok. Point? Between lines on interstate or main street, what is the difference? Besides much slower speeds so much more time to react to stupid drivers than on the interstate. Local drivers also take the same roads daily that they are familiar with. OTR is hoping and guessing based on maps, GPS, etc. You also deal with the same people day in and day out. We are constantly dealing with strangers, some of which HATE truck drivers. We also have to deal with ice on roads MUCH more than local drivers do.

    Sadly what's happening is a result of § 391.23. I suspect part 391 is by far the rule section that I link to the most. HireRight is only one of many 3rd party databases that collect this information. Even a carrier that does not use one is still REQUIRED PER DOT RULE to make these inquiries and in some cases make the results a part of a driver's driver qualification file. @brian991219 knows this too. Almost every time a FMCSA auditor enters the property of a carrier they bring with them a "hit list" of problem drivers taken from the data the states submit to the DOT through part 350. Then they get into those files.

    I know there are exceptions, but generally speaking, you can NOT run from your driving history.

    My best advice to any driver that is finding it hard to get a job is to start lowering your "standards" and go haul rubberized dog crap out of Omaha if that is what you have. Drive safe and over time your options will get better. While you can't run from this history you can overcome it with time.
