Ya cant make'em bust rock or chain gang'em anymore , dam soft hearted liberals took away any usefulness ya can get out of a convict . Tbh , id rather be out in the fresh air than rotting in a cell .

 

Well, hope you never go to prison in Louisiana or Alabama. They still run chain gangs cutting the weeds along the interstate (Alabama). And Louisiana has a special farm program. You'll get lots of fresh air there.

Im glad to be wrong , i remembered Georgia had one going several years ago and all the knashing of teeth it raised you'd thought they were hanging people on the square .

 

i read the story , it sounds like the farm is on its way out . Still not a chain gang tho.

 

Well, ya know something, man, I'm not at all against punishment for crime, but it's nearly 100 degrees here in South GA and some of these lock ups don't have any air conditioning or fans......you just sit there and cook.

That's not punishment, that's torture.

 

Just talked to my friend in Texas the other day. He's locked up in a unit in Palestine. He said it's hot lol. He's working on a fifteen ( 15 ) year sentence this time around.

 

Well, look, full disclosure.....I am not an advocate for prisoners rights, if i had it my way, a whole bunch would have been taken out back and shot.
That said, those that we chose to rehabilitate, shouldn't be subject to inhumane treatment.
Think of it this way, Dude #1 comes in, gets proper and appropriate treatment. Gets his GED, learns a skill, learns life lessons.
Dude #2 comes in, we treat him like an animal for 5 or 10 years and then we let him loose on the public.
Which one is going to progress to being a "productive member of society"?

If you treat people like animals, they'll act like animals.
