It's admittedly been a long time since I've done any work in flatbed, but wouldn't this be way more secure if he'd done the front like the rear, using two rings? It would sure move the force vector out and down and balance the angles better. I realize he did this to have room for the binder, but especially with the load mostly sitting on the rails, it sure looks like he's biased way towards a forward pull and risking a load shift under heavy braking.

Well, we're only seeing the one side. We can see both front securement from this angle, but only one of the back securement. Notice how the front ones are looped around the front cargo attachment point, but the rear one looks like they couldn't do the loop there, and are pulling back by using an anchor point for the front D ring, and then using the binder on the back D ring chain. I suspect, maybe he has a hydraulic line there, maybe, going along a steel member that he can't use a chain loop to secure without damaging the cargo or whatever is covered back there. :dontknow:

I'd be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt on this. I had a wrapped diesel engine once, that I had to be very careful how I chained it, for the same reason. Luckily for me, I was able to lock the frame it was on, down, while just putting some edge protection between the chain and the hydraulic hose that was above it, to secure it.

    Not really flat bed, but....

That was following another truck piggy backing a single screw that was piggy backing a 26ft box truck. Heading to Mexico is my guess. 20240901_173033.jpg

@High Stepper @Gearjammin' Penguin Get a load of this.

I see at least two epic fails there.

Some rocket scientist put something entirely too heavy on a pallet made of pine. It’s amazing how many idiots put the heaviest product on the flimsiest kindling.

Next, there’s nothing protecting the surrounding freight from the aforementioned stupidity.

If a claim results from from that, then somebody needs to get fired.
