Belmont/Dennis. Near Redbay Alabama. 2 1/2 hours from the house.

Visited with some of my biggest supporters. My future inlaws. They went truckin when they were in their early 60's. They both recently renewed their CDL's. They are 72 and 70.

Gotcha, 25 and 4. Beautiful country, near the Trace. Traveled around in those parts from time to time when I was at Ole Miss. North Mississippi ain't even like South Mississippi!! Have fun and keep up the good work...Happy Easter!

I went to Petro today. Sent in macro to break down that I needed work on my tractor for an airleak. Trailer had 2 tires with hardly any tread, only 2 tailights were working, no side marker lights were working.

I heard a leak on a cab suspension air bag line. It had duct tape wrapped around it. Turned out the fitting was finger tight. They put teflon tape on it and snugged it up. Still was leaking bad, yet they couldn't seem to find it. Turned out there was a leaky fitting on the EGR under the turbo. (either that the waste gate) The guy told me they couldn't fix it as they would have to pull the turbo, plastic inner fender, and air filter assembly. They ended up fixing it from below. It was a brass press fit fitting.

I knew this yokel wasn't a mechanic as I called my GF's son who just quit wrenching for Petro. He told me this guy wasn't a mechanic. He had to rely on a another guy to find the problem.

The trailer had a wire burned in half on the driver side of the frame. They patched that.

The worlds slowest tire man changed the 2 bald tires out.

I ate a late lunch with my sweetie in the restaurant. I thought I could drop the truck and run to Nashville and do some shopping. No way. So she stayed with me until the truck was done. We went to Nashville and I left the completed truck there. I drove past there on the way home. I will get it in the morning. I didn't want to back down my narrow street at night. I'll get it in the AM.

I did get a trucker atlas, $15 truck stop guide, and a $399 Cobra GPS. My GF's son could have got me 20% off everything! ######## quit his job!:biggrin_25510: I told her to get the GPS 2 weeks ago!:biggrin_25516:

Talked to my DM. I didn't meet her yet. She was on vacation. I am back on the board 0600 on Friday. She told me to call her Thursday see if I have a preplan. I am getting ready to rock. Stocked with food, clothes are packed, got a 1 burner propane cooker. Used lunch box cooker, might get a used 12V cooler from the future inlaws. They gave me a Cobra 29. The mic seems bad. I have an old 23 channel in the shop that worked. Maybe the mic will swap. Their is some rattlin in the exisisting mic. I will pull it apart and see what is rattling. I heard a guy talking on the radio about replacing a broken spring with one from a cheap pen.

My sweetie is ordering some new phones with blue tooths for us. Probably won't get here before I leave.

BTW Swift employees get a 16% discount from AT&T. That is on anything over $30. So that includes wireless for your lap top.

Is it legal/allowed to carry those little propane cylinders with you? I would assume it would be a problem for Swift and/or DOT if they found it. At the very least, I would expect problems if you ever get inspected on your way to/from Canada. Those guys have a problem with everything.

    Hopefully I'm wrong.

I read elsewhere here that it was legal. Some carry a full size BBQ grill on the back of their truck with 30lb cylinder. They do sell small propane burners in the truck stops. I am not going to pay for those tiny cartridges. My mentor bought a 2 burner Coleman. We cooked steaks, brats, soups, rice etc. Too much money for me. Too bulky.

AFA Canada? No passport, no plans to get one.

Last I checked you could still carry up to 500 pounds of the propane cylinders before HAZMAT guidelines kicked in. So should not be any issue if you carry less than that.

Since it has been awhile, I thought I would update. After my father passed away just a few days before I was to leave, and I had already used my 30 day leave, I decided to resign since my family needed me to be home during that time.

Now I am going through the process of trying to get rehired. My DM told me I would not have to go through orientation if I was reinstated within 30 days but I would need to contact a recruiter and reapply. I finally got to talk to a recruiter today who told me she could not rehire me until after 30 days but my DM could reinstate me at anytime before the 30 days were up. Soooo, now I am waiting to hear back from my training DM. Hopefully it will be soon so I won't have to do orientation again.

Best of luck to you road dust... Ive been following your posts and you have definately had a rough time the last few months. I was lucky and got out of the academy in San Antonio, although it took 2 weeks to get into orientation (at the time they didnt have enough, now sounds like they have too many again) and got right out with a mentor and started running. I dont have as much time to view threads as we run pretty steady and I need my beauty sleep LOL :biggrin_255: Hopefully driver services will get off their butt and get you going......BigT
