Just hanging up on them can cost you though. I've had plenty of those calls too but there have been many times they'd call me back later agreeing to my rates.

Texas is getting worse... Lets just say between all the load double postings and fishing expeditions, the actual legit load number is probably half of that 1707... Meaning 3 empty trucks per load... That's beyond horrible!!!
ITS includes partial loads in that 1707 number as well....
The only other state that's showing more trucks than loads is New Mexico...

So the way I see it, it’s a complete waste of your time posting your truck.
As far as posted rates or asking a broker where they are trying to sell the load at. I like to ask and I will tell you why. It lets me know right off who I am dealing with. If the rate is somewhat close to a reasonable rate then I know they are probably decent and somewhat honest. If it’s extremely cheap then I know if they are either a cut rate cheap broker or they are greedy pricks looking for a sucker. All brokers get my rate. Broker A I am more willing to negotiate with. Broker B my rate is take it or leave it.
I won’t assume I know what/how others run their business or what they leave or don’t leave on the table. My way is not the only way, just the way I approach load boards and broker freight. And it’s the opposite of you. Do I leave money on the table? Sometimes maybe. Sometimes it’s on purpose.
