I-40 closed near TN/NC border due to flooding

    It might be awhile before that gets patched. The rock slide, many moons ago took about a year or so. If i remember correct, i was running western in those days

    That may well get worse with all the vegetation gone. Westbound lanes will be lucky to make it until morning.

    Being down to one lane for both east and westbound is pretty normal for the gorge ever so often. It'll probably take a year to fix that mess.

    I-40 between Ridgecrest and Marion has a similar situation. Closed in both directions.
    The Pilot in Marion is closed

    I-26 is out of the question as well,from the NC/TN state line up to Erwin.

    Wholly ####!!! That's a good science lesson right there!!! Physical mattering at it's finest. The power of water is truly amazing to me. This storm seemed to get stronger once it hit land. Get ready for the 81 to 26 congestion.

    at the Tenn/NC line I-40 washed out about 10? yrs ago. looks like same spot.
