I had the opposite experience.
People get fired from non-trucking jobs all the time too. I didn't become a trucker until I was 31. Before I got into trucking, I was fired from three different jobs. I'm 43 years old now. And I have never had so much job stability in my life as I have had in trucking.
I feel lower than snake crap right now.

Job security doesn't mean you're immune to being fired. It means you can easily find another job.
Truckers used to know they had a dozen jobs waiting for them if their company fired them, so they could demand more money and were paid nicely. Now, drivers are a dime a dozen. You get fired you might be looking for quite a while to find something as good as what you had. If you can even find it.broke down plumber and lual Thank this. -
Or age. But they'd have to say it to your face and you'd need a witness.broke down plumber Thanks this.

I was a civil service employee, and later a federal employee. Noone could just fire you short of a felony. I drove the 1st time after that first career. Got fired after 5 months, and it was scary not knowing what I'd do next. Luckily I got my federal job. I see all the trucks going by and feel pretty safe. Now I'm back.broke down plumber Thanks this.

This reminds me of a story I heard. It’s about how you can do the right thing and do your job better than others and still get screwed. It’s just life bro.
Just need to remember that you are still better off than 90% of the ignoramuses out there and doors will open for you.
On the other hand, an wise man once told me an important rule to live by, “dont snitch on yourself”
