Replace the whole 5th wheel and be done with it?

I’ve dealt with a good shop in Miami. Almost worth the trip, if you can run a load there. They’re good, fast, and at reasonable prices.
JolliRoger and gerardo1961 Thank this. -
I had a new 5th wheel put on. Had to adjust it with once. Pretty strait forward.
Does the 5th wheel have play when engaged? I looked up YouTube, showed me how to adjust it. Other thing is the side holes can get egg shaped, then you need a new 5th wheel. I hauled tankers and that's what happened to mine. The pins into the side of the plate, wore out one side from slosh. That will also cause slap. 5th wheel was like 1300 installedRideandrepair Thanks this. -
MAMservices, Rideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this.

I’d probably be grabbing the pick up and the wife/gf/bf/dog etc and head north, Mother Nature may take care of it for you
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I was gonna say, finding a mechanic in Tampa would be the least of my concerns this week.
86scotty and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
boneebone Thanks this.
