Btw do you know of any good aluminum welders?
Needing to get my fuel tank welded where the pickup tube is secured to the tank.

 

Well. Mad Dog welding on FM 1518 about a half mile from I-10 was the only one I trusted for Aluminum but he passed away a few years ago. I luckily have not needed any aluminum welding done lately so I’m kinda in the same boat as you. I will be looking for someone else when I do.

 

Back when my wifes great uncle owned his trailer repair shop over by Thermo-King he had a long time guy who worked on all the alloy tanks and anything aluminum. Back in teenage years when I worked there that guy was in late 20’s early 30’s then. My wifes cousin closed up shop around 2015 and that guy was still there. I wonder where he went to.

 

Wow I didn’t know he passed. I talked to him around 2015 about some ramps I wanted to fabricate when I had a hotshot but ended up buying step deck ramps.
I might just go to that truck salvage and see if they have a tank at a decent price.

 

Yeah. I had gone by there about a year and a half ago and gate was closed and the place looked a little unkept. I found out through an old friend he had passed. The old friend was one of his ex students. Gary helped me out a ton of times. He taught welding class in the Judson school district for years after working on some pretty cool pipeline projects in his day. Retired and started mobile welding and building utility bumper pull trailers out of his shop.

 

Would be worth a trip if we had a bunch of different things to have welded. Bring a pick up bed’s worth and stay for a week. Lol.
