I’m looking at a day cab to room run local with a company that is contracted out my local rail yard.

what’s the wiggle room Schneider has
On there trucks? What’s the best route to do this?
They have a truck I’m seriously interested in

I don't know but you might want to reconsider getting a sleeper cab.

First of all they're a heck of a lot more comfortable and there's a heck of a lot of room for your stuff even on day trips.

Sometimes you get tired, you have to wait at the rail yard, bang! Jump in the back and you're comfortable.

Lastly, everything in trucking is finite. What they tell you today may not be tomorrow what they promise you when you go to do it may not be what they say, or it may be exactly what they say for 3 months or 6 months.

But if it changes around and all of a sudden you find yourself looking for somewhere else to go with that truck, a day cab is a colossal liability because if you go any farther then coming back the same day you're in a day cab.

And most places will not lease on a daycab, unless they are guys running the port or containers which honestly is pretty much bottom of the barrel.

It's always better to leave your options open.

Myself, I would never ever ever ever under any circumstances, want a day cab instead of my nice sleeper even if I was working locally every single solitary day.

Depends if he plans local work only or might decide some longer hauls.

I'd get a daycab. I thought about a sleeper but have no plans to do anything that requires a log plugged in to the truck. Plus. Sleeper takes away from allowed weight.

I can haul 30 tons while the sleepers are limited to 27 tons.

Need a nap. Steering wheel comes in handy for a pillow.

Only Schneider can answer your questions. The market is über slow right now so I'm pretty confident Schneider will be eager to negotiate the sale price with you to sell their every used and abused equipment.

I’ve seen quite a few single truck guys spec a truck for one specific thing, then halfway through the payment book, have a falling out where they are working, and can’t do anything else with how that truck was set up, and wind up selling

I would never buy a used fleet truck but a day cab is severely limiting options as well,

actually, the whole reason I bought my truck was we were working overnight on a state job down the road from the house. They would forget to cancel the truck from time to time so I’d just go to their yard and blow smoke for 8 hours, maybe move a light pole 600 feet down the road for the guys, then go back to sleep

Like a coffin cab? I ran one temporarily while my otr- sleeper was in the shop. They put me on local runs. I hit a piece of sheet metal in the road that sheered my trailer brakes. 8 hr delay. Took a decent nap in that little sleeper. It would've sucked in a daycab.

the Volvo I drove was a mid roof. had an upper cabinet behind each seat.

drove it regional, home weekends and couple during the week sometimes, for 6 months.

everything on the bunk, at night all goes on the seats. every night, lol

It's not really a limitation if you have no desire to run a log device plugged in to the truck. That thing will bankrupt the business.

And a daycab can do everything a sleeper truck can. And haul more weight.
