Greece is beyond that division because Greece is where it all begun. The western civilization. Even though it is not exactly on the western part of the European map, the western world we know today started right there. Democracy, the notion of citizenship, liberties...and all that. Besides, commies never took over Greece and it was never on the red map.
I really liked that history part when Greece kicked Mussolini's ### with his wanna be neo roman empire army ... of #######, so he had to use his admirer Adolf army to finish the job.

 

Thats a shame, that's where Adolf Hitler was born and raised.

 

Yes, all from the former Yugoslavia. Got a few good size companies here running a large percentage of the automotive freight. All owned by Bosnians.

 

Lots of them including Albanians came here after they had a war, but nowadays barely anybody comes over. They are pretty much all settled now wherever they live.
If there was no Russia-Ukraine war going on right now, we barely would have seen newcomers as well.

They were never a part of the Cold War Eastern Bloc countries so technically no but ideologically and culturally yeah probably so. Russia east of the Ural Mountains was always considered "European" with everything west of them "Asia".

 

No they were never aligned with the Soviets. Yugoslavia was always independent of the Warsaw Pact.

 

What does that mean "they existed as another country that was?". The other country wasn't. They were always independent of the Soviet Union. There was no Serbia, Bosnia or Croatia those were all absorbed and suppressed by Tito and Yugoslavia was created. It was a communist country but one that was independent of the Soviet Union.

 

Geographically and culturally are all that really counts.
