Common sense and consideration for others are not attributes of our society, unfortunately.
I advocate responsible organizations appropriate mandates that ALL new D_heads attend Truck PARKING School !!
I am retired after 17 yrs otr trucking but parking, along with people tail-gating, were a couple of my pet peeves.![]()

I could have made your post.My sentiments exactly.Twice a year spring and fall we are blessed with perfect 60~75 degree sleeping weather. You got to be brain dead to idle then.

Exactly.....! -
There have been a few times where I had no choice but to block another driver when I parked, because I was in one of those lovely states with extremely limited parking. However, when a driver asks me to move, I get right on it, and get my truck out of the way. Nice thing is that once I move, and the other driver gets underway, there's an open parking spot for me to finish my beauty sleep. And I need all the beauty sleep I can get!

Well there's all sort's thing that come too mind when idling your truck or parking it, i love the food stores, if you idlie there, you dont get unloaded they told me,so that 's why i took those load's too get a nice sleep in with windows down, but then even with your windows down , you got a bunch of loud mouth jerk's that cant talk in normlay fashion of voice, even tho there only 2 feet apart , they think they got shout at each other , so that gets drifted in your cab, i yell out go across the parking lot, they ussally shout back it's a free country , then call there lot guard too escort em out and off the there property , but also mayby your idel , if you have a medcal problem, i try too avoid truckstop much as i can, i rather park on a old desterd dirt road then put up with super trucker chrome dave, ya know the one , hard of hearing , meaning chrome dual stacks 8 inches or more, no muffelers , running at red line tach all night long , then too make matters worst his reefeer is set up same way with 5 inch chrome pipe with no mufflers , and running red line on the tach, im thinkinking this guy is hard of hearing, then i think how safe is that too drive, think about it , the trains a comming , the signal not working at the crossing, he cant hear the train horns, becuse of his muffler setup, so he got that load and on top that his pink floyd is cranking out at full throttle, ya gotta love those super truckers, make me look bad just trying too be proffesanal as i can be, Everett.

I have never and never will block another driver.I'm not saying I'm better than you are trying to be argumentative I'm just say with me blocking another is not a option.I will go some where else to park.
-
Would have loved to, but this was not an option, sadly. The driver I had blocked was understanding to my situation, and just asked me to move so he could get out. Neither of us had any difficulty, once my truck was out of his way.

There is one time i rember, it was in eastern Ohio , the ta there , there was major blizzard headed east i was hit full force headon from snow and stuff, from the east so i pull in the ta there on the east side of state, i back into the last row , by morning time the lot was super full, and not in the lines like normly, they were crossways in front of me 6 rows deep too the next line, now in something like that i totaly understand it, i keep moving forward and backward keeping my brakes from freezing and my tires from freezing down, i think that was my longest night of moving like 4 inches ahead every hour and back, but i wasnt stuck like the rest drivers there, but soon as the they opean up the road and they all left i left too, so it wasnt no big deal, im thank god there was no fire the lot or someby truck burn up , woulda burn up the whole truckstop , packed tight as it was,Everett.

There are cases, for instance really bad storms, when there is no choice but to take whatever space you can find. Every one of us understands these times. When there are empty spaces and you choose to park where there are no parking signs or are obviously not parking places simply because that's where you want to park, that's when you are a problem.
More often than not, if you plan your trip you will have a parking place waiting for you. If you simply drive until you are tired or out of hours and then look for a place you may be out of luck. Then you make us pay for your lack of planning. -
If I have to Idel under any circumstances I get as far away as possible from other truckers or where they might park. Im not a ahole to them nor they to me when I idel
