1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I live in Norwood. Age: 60. Had to quit my 1rst and only driving job when I had to cancel my hospitalization in order to pay the bills at home with a wife that has rheumatoid arthritis and realized I was more angry at myself than at the employer for allowing me to drive 7 months OTR for them at an average of 1400 miles per week. No points on my driving record. No criminal record. Non-drinker. Non-smoker. Non-drug user. Experience with Haz-mat. Also endorsed for Tanker. Freightliner Cascadia and Columbia. Experience with reefer and dry van; Great Dane and Wabash mostly. Experience with Qual-com and radio (drove cab for 12 years in Tucson). Graduated from Future Truckers of America Feb. 3, 2009 in Asheboro, NC. Looking for local company or o/o to STAY WITH!! And please don't decide for me that I'm going to retire at 62 like the last one did. When I retire depends mostly on how much $ I am making by that time. Will only drive OTR if guaranteed an absolute minimum of 2000 miles per week IN WRITING! Never drove for LESS than 6 weeks at a time with last employer. Very serious-minded driver and still believe in loyalty to an employer who cares about their drivers. CELL PHONE: 704-918-9708
VERY SERIOUS WARNING: I DO NOT TRUST A RECRUITER ANY FURTHER THAN I CAN THROW ONE DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF A CLIFF!!!
I hope there is someone out there who can help
    Sincerely,
    Twisted turtle

Have you checked on Craigslist? I've been job hunting for a few weeks, now, and there've been quite a few positions down toward Charlotte. Positions that my "almost 3 years" experience was too shy to qualify me for.
Also, some companies are getting back around to recognizing the value of the more mature worker. Your values are often different, your work ethic stronger. Don't assume that's going to always be seen as a detractor!
Good luck with finding one to hire on with! Back to pounding the pavement!
