An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

    I didn't realize any of our RGN's had that system. I can see how much of a wiring nightmare it would be to mount it on the neck end of one of those.

    There are times I dislike pulling an open deck, especially one of these chameleon conestogas on a stepdeck...like this morning. The wind was howling which would have made folding tarps on a regular flatbed a PITA, but opening a chameleon step conestoga was a total nightmare. I have never seen both sides of a conestoga suck in, usually the wind side blows in, but the downwind side blows out...not this trailer, both sides sucked in, and I had to fully retract the tarp onto the upper deck. And forget about getting the back door to roll down and latch into the frame. The wind was so strong, once I got the back side latchs secured, when I went to pull the front forward to hook them into the tension latch plate, it almost pulled me off the ground. I weigh 235 lbs and I was standing on the front drive tire leaning forward trying to pull it far enough forward to get it to latch. I could only get the back door behind the very bottom of the latch mechanism until I could get behind something to block the wind. I even had someone helping...I was inside trying to push the rear tarp out while he was trying to latch it, but it would literally push my fat arse out of the way...

    I think about the only trailers that don’t have the inflation systems are our wing trailers and the fb23’s. I’m constantly airing up wing tires, I really wish they would have spec’ed an inflation system.
    wind is always a pain in the ###. But you can’t wad up a conastoga and throw a strap over it like you can a tarp.

    it took me 13 hours to do 430 miles and two stops today. I love California so much. The receiver in Compton was backed up even at noon when I got there. 3 spd trucks ahead of me and the guy that left at 1:45 had been there since 8:30 am. I got out of there about 3, just in time for rush hour. It took 2:10 to go the 50 some miles to our yard.

    I hooked to a step deck to load some army trucks heading to texas. My pickup address is a P.O. Box, that’s a first. I guess I’ll just wonder around until I find something interesting to haul.

    I don't like how the manufactures are trying to do away with cb radio more and more.
    I just spoke to a guy on cb from my base station the guy was in a freightliner with the new hidden antennas molded into the cab.
    He was rockin a cobra 148 barefoot with the swr at a 1.8 but his signal was really good we talked him through 2 towns atleast 50 miles before I lost him completely on radio so I guess those antennas actually work good with an swr issue that be brought down to 1.1 with a jumper or 2.
