Had that "ground burner" on a day cab and HATED it. Constantly getting exhaust into the truck at traffic signals, or the really rare occasion that I would be sitting and idling for a bit. And no, there was no exhaust leak anywhere on that tractor. But if air currents happened to be just WRONG, it would take that exhaust right into the cab.
Now while I may have diesel fuel in my blood, I really don't like to have diesel fuel in my lungs!Ducks Thanks this. -

My dad still has a old Frieghtliner with the old flappers, I can't stand to let it idle anymore drives me insane . I just shut that old ##### off!

my dad used to have this hotrod that was parked all winter every year in a garage of course. one year the mice had stuffed dog food up the exhaust pipe for some reason. it was SO COOL when we started the car and the exhaust pipe suddenly became a cannon!Ducks Thanks this.

Water down the stacks will turn to rust,over time your elbows will blowout & start leaking exhaust.

I used to keep an 8 track, continuous play tape at home of that rain flapper noise so that I could sleep when I was off the road for a few days (1).Ducks Thanks this.
