A chunk goes to the court system. In Georgia, apparently, alot of coin goes into hotrod Dodge Chargers and cruisers. Unbelievable how many bears they have.

Each State is set up differently. In some States a portion goes back to the county, the department that issued it and to the State's fund. Some State's it goes directly back to the State's fund and then the State disperses it back in it's budget to the various programs.

Do you know if the money that gets disbursed goes into transportation specific programs like roads, bridges, education, rest areas, etc?

In some states it even varies by locality, so the local court may keep a percentage of the fine. That money usually goes to their operating costs, which can be flamboyant if they are pulling in lotsa money.
I don't think that I have ever heard on any money going back to the actual road projects, mostly to fund the court and government system.JustSonny Thanks this. -

My older sis was a school principal down here in Mississippi. When the casinos hit the coast in the early 90s and tax revenues went way up, much of the revenue went to the schools. She went from fighting tooth and nail for necessities to having computers and the like to spare.
